STAFF
Carla Addison
NSU Children's Center Director
I have been an early childhood professional for over twelve years. My first professional experience was being a nanny for three young boys. That experience inspired me to become a teacher. I attended Northern State University and graduated (suma cum laude) with a B.S. in Elementary Education and an Early Childhood minor in December of 1997. I was the head teacher in a four year old classroom before coming to work at NSU Children’s Center in January of 1999 as the Preschool Supervisor. I have been at the Center ever since and became the Director in June of 2005. If I am not in my office you will find me “visiting” the classrooms.

Hi my name is Joan Schneider and I am the Preschool Supervisor. I am originally from Eveleth, MN where I grew up with my 5 siblings and my parents. I attended college in Fargo, ND and received my B.S. in Child Development from North Dakota State University in 2004. I love working with children and have worked with several age groups in the past. Outside of work I enjoy crafts, camping, and being outside. |
Other Staffing Information
The Center employs an average of 42 work
study employees each year. While the students
are responsible for the children’s basic care
they are closely supervised by the two full time
staff members.
The staff here at the Center must meet a number
of qualifications. Each employee must be
screened through the state for reports of
incidents of child abuse or neglect; they must
become Infant/child CPR certified and keep it
updated; they must attend at least 11 hours of
specific in-service training each year; and
provide resumes and references. Also a new
employee must have a background check run for
felonies or misdemeanors which would prevent
them from working with children.
