ResumeI have been doing physics all my
life. When I was little, I would
take my brother’s and sisters’ toys
apart to see how they worked, I took
auto-mechanics and welding instead
of home-ec, and I have taught
physics since 1978. My favorite
topic in physics is modern physics
(relativity, nuclear physics and
particle physics). I even got the
opportunity to study nuclear physics
at Fermi Lab near Chicago and I
spent two summers taking students to
Russia to tour and study physics at
the Moscow Institute of Physics and
at various research facilities in
Chernogolovka. I got to hold two
Nobel Prizes in physics and see the
Nobel Peace Prize on display in the
Roosevelt Room in the White House.
Physics is all around us and in
us. It is my job to help you
understand this. I try to make
physics personal and fun. In 1996 I
was named the South Dakota Teacher
of the Year and in 1998 I was
selected as a Disney American
Teacher Award Honoree. Video clips
of my classroom were shown on the
Disney Channel that year.
Aside from teaching at the NSU
E-Learning Center, I also teach
physics at Presentation College in
Aberdeen. My husband, Jay, and I
own 2 Photos Now! stores in
Aberdeen.
