Northern State University will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its two new residence halls at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, during the annual Gypsy Days celebration. Great Plains East and Great Plains West both opened this fall on the Northern campus. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held on the Great Plains East Patio. Read more here.

   

 

Area high school students who are preparing for All-State Orchestra auditions are invited to the first-ever All-State Orchestra Workshop with the Aberdeen University-Civic Symphony. The free event will be held 7-9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept.

Nashville Unplugged: The Story Behind the Song will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center. The show brings successful songwriters from Nashville to Aberdeen to discuss and perform their hit songs. Northern students will be admitted free.

Create ‘N’: A Festival Celebrating Entrepreneurship, Creativity, Innovation and Workforce will take place Wednesday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center. Keynote speakers are Dr. Art Diamond, Darrell D. Dorrell and  Ron Gulaskey.
