Weller inspires area high school
Northern State University annually hosts a high school arts workshop for students in the surrounding area.  This year marks the eleventh annual Invitational High School Exhibition and Workshop.  In this workshop, students from local area high schools are given the opportunity to learn new art skills as well as participate in a contest of art that they submitted to be judged.  Each year five winners are chosen for projects that they submit for judging by NSU’s professors. 

One of the winners from the last two years, freshman Crystal Weller, Aberdeen, designed the artwork on the advertisements for this year’s event.  Weller is majoring in art at NSU and is hoping to specialize in fine arts. 

When asked about her experience with the Invitation High School Exhibition and Workshop she said, “The whole purpose of the workshop is to introduce students to the public, and to what Northern can provide for art students.” Other contests she has been involved in include The Greenery, Federal Duck Stamp, Reflections, and the Sioux Falls Horse Barn.(Read Full Article)
