will lose another diamond
If diamonds are chunks of coal that stuck to their job,
another diamond among Northern State University’s faculty
is Professor Thomas Hansen. He began his career here
when he was 25 years old after completing his degree
work at the University of Michigan, and next year in
May 2002, after 35 years as a professor in the English

Big Ego' up front and original
The up front and original sounds of Jim’s Big Ego flooded
the Thunder’s Lair April 4. The band was scheduled to
play in the Last Chance, a local bar, but due to an
executive decision made by the administration the band
was moved.

High
goals drive softball to look for success this season
Coach Paula Krueger, of her 4th season in the dugout,
is once again leading the Northern State University
women’s fastpitch softball into a tough schedule. Krueger
said their major goals for the season include, “having
a 500 or better record, finishing in the top half of
the conference, and playing up to our potential if we
win or lose.”

Outdoor
track team not running outside
Looking at the schedule for the outdoor season, which
was supposed to start on March 24, at the Dakota State
Open, there have been four meets scheduled. Three of
these were cancelled. Running at the only active meet
so far, the Nebraska-Omaha Quadrangular on March 31,
many athletes for Northern State University placed at
least once.

Gangle,
Toulouse nominees for scholar-athelete awards
Seniors Scott Gangle, Britton and Anne Toulouse, Emmons,
Minn., are nominees for the 2001 Britton and Kelly Awards.
These awards are designed to honor top scholar-athletes
in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
