Foundation buys President's house
Northern State University presidents now have a designated
place to stay thanks to the NSU Foundation’s purchase
of the home where current president John Hilpert, lives.
Past president, John Hutchinson, also lived in the brick

MIS
488: Bats and mitts or computers?
There’s no doubt about it; Selig-Prieb knows baseball.
She definitely knows how to manage owning a baseball
team. She is the president and CEO of the Milwaukee
Brewers, but according to the responses posted on WebCT,
the Jan. 30 MIS 488 class left a good portion of Northern
State University students asking the same questions,
starting with: “Isn’t MIS 488 supposed to be a technology
class?”

Global
Crossings?
Lately
the democratic party has shifted its attention increasingly
towards mention of the Enron collapse as a means of
bringing the approval rating of our president downward.
The democrats are constantly pointing to the fact that
Vice-President Cheney will not hand over the records
of his private meetings with Enron executives as a sign
that he knew of the collapse and did nothing. (Read

The
Poster Child
Enron
Corp. has been a poster child for innovation in the
world of big energy companies. With one of the highest
Wall Street investment ratings around, it was ranked
number seventh in the upper tier of corporate value.
With help from allies in the U.S. Congress, energy trading
rules were relaxed, and Enron Corp. became a major player
in trading energy futures.(Read

Politics:
X-Games style
If a person
chose to judge the political atmosphere of this campus
based on reading the last few political opinion columns,
one would have to conclude that NSU is a campus of extremists.
Well represented are the extreme left, the extreme right,
and the extremely radical, but where is the voice of
those of us who consider ourselves to be moderate? I
guess it would be difficult for a moderate to have a
column; due to their evenhanded political beliefs, moderates
have less to yell and scream about. (Read

Valentine's
Day Bliss?
My co-workers
and Editorial Board members begged me not to write a
column about Valentine’s Day. They thought, as I am
now a singleton (in the words of my idol Bridget Jones),
that I would be cynical and harsh. But much to their
surprise I am not going to talk about my high school
boyfriend who broke up with me on Valentine’s Day my
senior year. No, I am not going to mention that we went
to The Refuge and proceeded to break up before we ate,
and then I had to consume my meal in tears. (Read

NSU
wrestling program overcomes many obsticles to become
champions
Two years ago the Northern State University wrestling
team overcame surprising odds to regain their then dropped
program. Wolves wrestlers petitioned the athletics department
and even went as high as the NSU president to battle
for their best interests. In the end the wrestling program
was regained with the help of the Student Association,
who contributed money to the wrestling fund, and made
a guarantee to do so for the next three years. Each
wrestler signed his name to a piece of paper that would
serve as a guarantee to stay with the program they fought
for and work hard to make the program better. (Read

Review: Creed's 3rd album is a hit
Creed’s
third album Weathered appeared in stores Nov. 20, 2001.
This album is a hard match to make with its predecessors,
My Own Prison (1997) and Human Clay (1999). Human Clay,
for example, is still number 11 on the Billboard top
200 chart whereas, Weathered does not seem to be climbing
the charts at all with their single My Sacrifice.
