Editorial

She...
It's been two years since I took over this space and I have done my best to write, every couple of weeks, what I think of the world. I've written articles that have been deeply personal. I've written about issues that I've felt passionate about, or because they made me angry. I've written articles about nothing simply to meet my deadline. In all that time though, I've never written about the thing most important to me. Until, now that is. What better to way to end my run than to tell my readers about the most valuable thing in my life? The most important thing in my life is "she." (Read Full Article)

From the left... Ulterior motives
Four weeks after the first bomb was dropped, the Gulf War II appears to be more questionable than originally thought.  From the first shouts of "No Blood for Oil," President Bush has sworn time and again that he does not have ulterior motives for invading Iraq. While this may be true, recent reports indicate Vice President Dick Cheney and former chairman of the Defense Policy Board, Richard Perle, may have substantial monetary motivations for entering this war.

...to the right, The last word
In my last article as a political columnist, I had hoped to expound some kind of deep political or even philosophical thoughts for all of you who are “right” and even left. Instead, I will just make a few predictions for the years to come. (Read Full Article)

You are known by the company you keep
My mom used to always say “You are known by the company you keep” and I never understood what she was talking about until recently. What she meant was that if I hung out with a certain group of people, others would assume that I was just like that group of people. So, if I hung out with “pot heads” then people would probably think that I was as well. Manhart says...but do what you want
Be for peace…..honestly. I am for peace, defined as where the amount of suffering, death and destruction is limited by the best means possible. And statistically, anti US aggression supporters, the numbers simply point to the current war as statistically the most peaceful path: again defined as the amount of suffering, death and destruction being limited by the best means possible. Stephen King, a phone booth and John Travolta in the Army
So, I sat down at my computer to start my immensely entertaining movie reviews and as soon as my hands hit the keyboard, it happens.  My mind goes blank (since it’s already pretty empty, this doesn’t take long). But luckily, in addition to be good looking, I’m also very creative and good in these high-ressure situations. So, I decided that I would give you a quick list of things you need to make a summer blockbuster. Note: I didn’t say Oscar-worthy movie.(Read Full Article)

A whole lot of Mexican going on at Mazatlan
When asked what brought Kimberly and I to South Dakota, if feeling saucy, I sometimes reply 'U-Haul.' If that doesn't satisfy the nosey so-and-so, I might say that 'we came for the warm winters, but stayed because of the famous night life.' But never, even in rare honest moments, do I say that we came or stayed because of all the outstanding local restaurants. If careful and maybe lucky, though, you can have a memorable eating experience in Aberdeen . . . without having to kill and skin it first. (Read Full Article)
