Social Norms: No joke, the stats are real
What?!? Eight out of ten Northern State University students have fun without going to bars and parties? That can’t be right…or can it? During the spring semester of 2004, the Social Norms Project surveyed 5 7 2  NSU  students  for a demographically representational survey.  What that means is that they went to classes at all times of the day and all days of the week to get students to truly represent NSU's real population.  No, they didn’t just hit up the library; they went everywhere! Imagination and suggestion equals a wild hypnotic night
Imagine eighteen students at the will of their own imaginations and one man’s desire to make them do embarrassing things in front of their friends. This is what took place on Sept. 24 in the Administration Auditorium at 9 p.m. when Hypnotist Frederick Winters took the stage. Only two ingredients are needed to make people respond well to hypnotism, "imagination and suggestion," said Winters. Winters asked for volunteers from the audience who would be under his hypnosis for over an hour and a half.

Social Norms stays up late
Social Norms has been busy hosting numerous campus events for Northern State University students. Generous financial support is given to the program which uses the funds to provide safe, alternative, late night activities for students. Each activity is an opportunity for students to interact with one another in an alcohol-free environment.
