Williams Library has the services to help you both on and off campus

Before you can use our services you must have an
NSU ID card and have it loaded as a library card. Fill out
the application form at:

If you do not yet have a NSU/library card. It will take 2-3 days to be processed, and then we will mail your card to you.Reference Services you can use anytime the library is open and classes are in session:

Live Chat- Ask the librarians live! is a real-time chat space where you can ask librarians from DSU, NSU and SDSU for help with your research. Or I.M. an NSU librarian directly, at www.northern.edu/library/im.htm.
Consultation- if you need to schedule an extended consultation to discuss a specific project with a librarian call 605-626-3018

Full-text Journal articles can be found by subject in many of the databases found at:
http://www.northern.edu/library/databases/subject.htm.
After you click on any of the links you will be asked for your NSU ID barcode number (21573000...) Full text articles can be printed off immediately or emailed.
With Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan, items will be sent directly to your home. If you find a book while searching through the online Library Catalog, you can order it through Interlibrary Loan. Whether it is available at Williams Library or any other library in the country, you can order it through us.
IMPORTANT! When you complete the interlibrary loan request, enter "Distance student-please ship to home address" in the Notes field.

A wide range of services are provided for students with learning disabilities, visual impairments, hearing impairments, acquired head injury and other hidden disabilities. Students or staff with questions regarding specific services for disabled students should contact the Office of Disability Services.
