Financial Aid

Federal workstudy
If you're enrolled at Northern at least half time and demonstrate financial need, Federal Workstudy is available to you. Workstudy gives you the opportunity to "earn as you learn." Individuals on the workstudy program are paid monthly for hours worked. These funds should be used to cover indirect costs, since they're not available at the beginning of the term, when fee payment is due. Most workstudy awards are based on working approximately 10 hours per week.
Student labor
Apply for student labor positions if you'd like to work on campus.  You don't need to apply for financial aid to work in these positions. Wage rates and hours will vary depending on the position. For information, consult the NSU Wolfwork site (linked below) or contact offices for information regarding any openings.

Department of Labor
The Department of Labor can help students find part-time employment off campus.  Students looking for work should register with the Department of Labor. To view posted job positions, first stop by the Career Center in Room 240 of the Student Center. A Department of Labor representative will be in Student Center 206 from 1-3 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month; to contact the representative, call 605-626-2340.
