Doolittle Scholarship
Deadline: Postmarked by May 1, 2017
Summary: Applicants must be graduates who attended Aberdeen Central High School for at least two years; must be in sophomore, junior or senior year and have demonstrated leadership skills, civic or community involvement. Preference given to business majors. Requires application and three letters of recommendation. Scholarships from $800 to $1,500.

Russ Keen Memorial Endowment Scholarship
Deadline: May 1, 2017
Summary: Applicant must have graduated from any Aberdeen public school, be a sophomore or junior in college, and pursuing a degree in communications or journalism. Requires application. One scholarship of approximately $750.

Vimbly Scholarship
Deadline: May 31, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be an undergraduate student. Application requires proof of enrollment and essay. One $1,000 scholarship awarded.

Yankton College Scholarship
Deadline: Feb. 20, 2017
Summary: Scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants must have a family relationship to a Yankton College alumni, former faculty/staff or be recommended by someone with a connection to Yankton College. Applicant must show high academic ability such as 3.0 college GPA, 21 or higher ACT score or leadership in a college activity. Requires application, personal statement, two letters of reference and official transcript. Scholarships vary.

Spirit of Sioux Falls Scholarship
Deadline: July 1, 2017
Summary: Applicant must live/maintain residency in Lincoln or Minnehaha counties (S.D.). Must be pursuing a business degree full time in a bachelor or graduate program, demonstrate motivation/ability to succeed, and understand the role of business in American society. Four $2,500 scholarships.


James B. and Vera A. Sadler Scholarship

Deadline: March 15, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be graduate of Washington High School (Sioux Falls, S.D.) majoring in education and classified as a junior or senior. Applicant will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA overall and in their major. Awards to juniors may be renewable for their senior year. Four $5,000 scholarships. 

Sioux Falls Retired Teachers Scholarship
Deadline: March 15, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be a student majoring in education at a S.D. college, demonstrating financial need and motivation/commitment to the teaching profession, 2.5 GPA or higher and have participated in school and community affairs. Awards to juniors may be renewable for their senior year. One $1,750 scholarship.  

Jim & Pat Croston Family Scholarship
Deadline: March 15, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be a graduate of Sioux Falls, S.D., majoring in education at a S.D. college who will be a junior or senior this fall with 3.0 GPA or higher, and demonstrate financial need andmotivation to succeed in a teaching career. One $1,000 scholarship.

Past Governors Award North Central Region (NCR) Soroptimists
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2017
Summary: Applicants must be female graduate students and U.S. citizens residing in the NCR (IA, MN, NE, ND, SD) or who have attended a NCR four-year college/university. Soroptimist members and immediate family are not eligible. Requires application, personal statement, and 3 letters of recommendation. One $2,000 scholarship.

The AZAZIE Scholarship
Deadline: May 31, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be a high school senior or freshman/sophomore in college attending college at a U.S. or Canadian university/college. Requires essay. One $1,000 scholarship.


Cobell Scholarship
Deadline: March 31, 2017
Summary: Applicant must have membership in a U.S. federally recognized tribe, be enrolled full time and provide references. Requires online application. Scholarship amounts vary.

Worgul Law Firm Scholarship
Deadline: March 31, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be currently enrolled or accepted in an undergraduate or graduate program or be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applicant must demonstrate community service, have high initiative to further their education and have strong academic performance. Requires transcript, letter of recommendation, application form and essay. One $10,000 scholarship.

National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC)
Deadline: Feb. 28, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be a high school senior accepted into college or a current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in a construction related program. Requires application, essay, and reference. Two $1,000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship.

Global Grant Scholarship
Deadline: Early February
Summary: Applicants must be a graduate student studying abroad in one of six areas. Scholarships range from 1-4 years. Applicants must show proof of admission and participate in club/district activities before, during and after the scholarship. Scholarship amounts vary.


SDRA Jerry Wheeler Scholarship Program
Deadline: Postmarked April 17, 2017
Summary: Applicant must enroll full time in a retail-related course of study fall of 2017, have either graduated high school in South Dakota, received GED in South Dakota, or attend college in South Dakota as well as currently completed 24 postsecondary credits. Requires application process, transcripts and two recommendations. 12 scholarships ranging from $500 -$2,250 were awarded in 2016.


The Andrew Flusche Scholarship
Deadline: June 30, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or lawful resident enrolled in college, or a high school senior accepted to college. Requires creating video PSA uploaded to YouTube, online application and proof of enrollment/acceptance to college. One $500 scholarship per deadline.

Basin Electric/Northern Electric Scholarship

Deadline: Feb. 17, 2017

Summary: Applicant must be a dependent of a member-system consumer or employee, 25 or younger and a U.S. citizen. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate program. Requires application, ACT or SAT scores (college freshman only), essay and appraisal. One $1,000 scholarship and one $500 scholarship.


POET Never Satisfied Scholarship

Deadline: Feb. 24, 2017

Summary: Applicants must be enrolled for the fall 2017 semester in any South Dakota post-secondary school. Requires online application, essay and two letters of recommendation. $5,000 scholarship.


Ampronix College Scholarship

Deadline: May 31, 2017

Summary: Applicants must be a United States resident, enrolled as an undergraduate student and have performed at least 20 hours of community service in the last year. Requires taking a survey and photo with essay. Three $1,000 scholarships.

 

2017 Senior Care Scholarship

Deadline: April 15, 2017

Summary: Applicants must be enrolled in an associate, bachelor or graduate level program in medical, nursing or social sciences-related major planning to pursue a career working with senior citizens. Must be attending classes at the time of the spring deadline. Requires a signed application and essay. Five $1,000 scholarships.


American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship
Deadline: April 7, 2017
Summary: Applicants must be high school seniors enrolled at a post-secondary institution for fall of 2017. Home-schooled students whose study is equivalent to a senior in high school are eligible. Requires online application process. Relatives of AFSA staff or NATIONAL board members may not enter. Ten $2,000 scholarships awarded.


 

South Dakota Board of Regents Scholarships


South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be South Dakota students who attended an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota. Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and completion of the high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum. Guaranteed to all students who qualify, $6,500 over four years.


Scarborough Scholarship
Deadline: Feb. 17, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be a current student with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and be a junior for the 2017-2018 academic year. Requires application and essay. One $1,500 scholarship.


Critical Teaching Needs Scholarship
Deadline: April 15, 2017
Summary: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 working in the final two years of education and fully admitted in an elementary or secondary education program. Applicant must agree to work in a critical teaching need occupation for five years after graduating. Scholarship amount varies.
