Basin Electric/Northern Electric Scholarships

Summary: Applicants’ parents must be customers or employees of Basin Electric or Northern Electric. Requires application, transcript, essay, and third party recommendation. One $1,000 scholarship and one $500 scholarship.
Yankton College General Scholarships
Deadline: February 14, 2014
Summary: Applicants must have a family relationship to Yankton College alumni, former faculty or staff. Requires application, transcript, two recommendation letters, and personal statement. Several scholarships awarded.
Mensa Education and Research Foundation Scholarships
Deadline: January 15, 2014
Summary: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents enrolled in an institution of post-secondary education for Fall 2014. Requires application and essay. Scholarships of $500 to $1000.
Silver Cross Ability Achievement Scholarship
Deadline: Dec. 31, 2013
Summary: Applicants must use a manual or power wheelchair or a mobility scooter. Applicants must also have completed one full year of study at a college or university with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Requires essay and application. Two $3,000 scholarships.
Summary: To qualify for financial assistance through the Black Hills Special Services Cooperative’s National Farmworker Jobs Program, applicants must have earned wages on a farm or ranch in the last two years (not including the family farm). Fifty percent of applicants’ income must be earned through farm labor or 50 percent of time must be spent in farm or ranch work. Dependents of the eligible farm worker are also eligible for assistance. See application for details.
South Dakota Board of Regents Scholarships
Jump Start Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be SD residents who graduate high school in 3 years or less. Guaranteed $1771.34 for one year.
South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship

Summary: Applicants must be South Dakota students who attended an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota. Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and completion of the high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum. Guaranteed to all students who qualify, $5000 over four years.
