Molly Westling

Hometown: Alcester, SD

Year/Major: Junior, Sociology/Human Services

Favorite Spot on Campus: The spot behind Jerde Hall where the laundry vent is; it is the best smelling spot on campus!

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting NSU?: I wish I would have known how involved I would become. I also wish I would have known that the professors are here to help US as students, it is truly awesome how much the professors and staff care for the students here at NSU.

Activities on Campus: NSU Lions Club President, Student Ambassador, Students of Social Sciences, Residential Mentor, Orientation, University College Workstudy

Matt Scott

Hometown: Spiritwood, ND

Year/Major: Junior, History

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Orientation, I love it and look forward to it each year. Free prizes, food, and entertainment- "If it's free, I'm there!"

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting NSU?: The professors aren't as scary as some people make them out to be. Yeah it is a lot of work, but it is so worth it.

What advice would you give a new student about college life?: Be yourself! College is way different than high school and I gurantee you will make friends! People accept you for who you are here, so be yourself!

Natalie Kieff

Hometown: Sioux Falls, SD

Year/Major: Senior/Fitness & Business Management

What do you love most about NSU?: Being able to associate with everyone!

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Meeting new friends and going to the sporting events here on campus.

What advice would you give to a new student?: Live life to the fullest but rememeber, your parents somehow still find things out!

Jenna Hughes

Hometown: Alcester, SD

Year/Major: Junior/Biology Education

What do you love most about NSU?: I love how everyone is involved and has really positive attitudes towards classes, clubs and activities.

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Living in the dorms has been a really good experience. You meet a lot of new people and all of your friends live near you so it's easy to hang out anytime you want.

What advice would you give a new student?: Be outgoing and willing to get involved and meet new people. Make sure you are prepared for college life and being on your own; money management is also important!

Eric "Sweet Music" Saathoff

Hometown: Watertown, SD

Year/Major: Senior/Social Science

What do you love most about NSU?: Molly Westling and her lovely "taverns" aka (barbeques or sloppy joes).

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Pretty much every Gypsy Days (Homecoming)

What advice would you give a new student?: Have a blast because it goes by WAY TOO FAST!

Kirsten Palmer

Hometown: Huron, SD

Year/Major: Sophomore/Education

What do you love most about NSU?: I love the fun events available to students and the stir-fry!

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Meeting all my amazing friends and hanging out together!

What advice would you give a new student?: If college is hard at first just keep going; give it some time to let you adjust to the new environment.

Kim Roseland

Hometown: Seneca, SD

Year/Major: Senior/Banking, Financial Services & Economics

What do you love most about NSU?: It's personable and the professors are very easy to relate to and get along with.

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting NSU?: Be careful with your student ID, if you ruin it it costs you $15 to replace it!

Favorite Aberdeen Hangouts: Super WallyWorld, movie theatre, bowling alley, and Richmond and Minot Lake.

Renelle White Buffalo

Hometown: Murdo, SD

Year/Major: Sophomore/Art

What do you love most about NSU?: You can accomplish so much here! I never would have thought I would become so involved in so many activities. I love the feeling I get when I am doing something that postively impacts NSU, my community, my tribe, and my former high school.

What is one thing ou wish you knew before starting NSU?: I wish I knew how to cook! I can cook a few things amazingly...easymac, taco soup, and a mean grilled cheese sandwich.

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty, it would be... Tracey Jurgens in the Fine Arts Dept. She is awesome! She knows everything and can help anybody who comes in. She also has amazing workstudy students!

Heidi Weiszhaar

Hometown: Leola, SD

Year/Major: Sophomore/Accounting

What do you love most about NSU? : I love dorm life. It is so much fun and a great place to make friends.

What advice would you give a new student?: I would tell them to make sure and experience everything!

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: President Schloss, then I could control NSU and make it even cooler than it already is!

Amanda Button

Hometown: Brandon, SD

Year/Major: Junior/Elementary Education

What do you love most about NSU?: The beautiful campus, closeness of the buildings (good for during winter).

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Patty the Pasta Lady because then I would be able to make the really sweet pastas for lunch and dinner!

Favorite Aberdeen Hangouts?: Hitch N' Post, Wal-Mart, Shennanigan's Wednesday Night Wings.

Becky Schuldt

Hometown: Chester, SD

Year/Major: Sophomore/Biology

What do you love most about NSU?: Dorm life is wonderful, there is never a dull moment in Jerde Hall.

 

If I could trade places with any NSU faculty or staff it would be...: President Schloss, then I could run NSU and put laundry facilities on every floor of Jerde!

Campus Activities: NSU Track and Field, Science Club, Orientation

Bonny Athy

Hometown: St. Charles, IA

Year/Major: Super Senior/Vocal Music

What do you love most about NSU?: I absolutely love the small campus and the at home feeling. People are friendly and very encouraging and that is really nice to have coming from out of state!

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting NSU?: The late night activities offered, then I wouldnt have sat by myself playing nintendo at night!

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Thunder the mascot! I would get to meet so many cool people, play, and sleep all day!

Ashley Spieker

Hometown: Willow Lake, SD

Year/Major: Junior/Sociology-Human Services

What do you love most about NSU?: Everyone has a chance to be involved in some club or organization. By being involved, people have the opportunity to meet new people, make lasting connections with others, and grow as a person.

What advice would you give a new student?: Be involved in campus events/activities. You don't experience what NSU and Aberdeen has to offer if you stay in your room all the time or go home every weekend.

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Coach Boden because I would get to call the shots and hang out with the football guys!

Cassi Mooney

Hometown: Granite Falls, MN

Year/Major: Senior/Business Management/Minor in MIS

What do you love most about NSU?: The relationships you create with the people in your residence halls, the people on campus & your professors. I also love being a part of CAB and planning amazing events!

What advice would you give a new student?: Live in Jerde Hall and leave your door open to meet people and take the new people you meet to CAB events.

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Vonda, the secretary for the counseling/career development/disabilities services office. She has an amazing name and gets to meet lots of students and staff. She pretty much rocks.

Landon Lawson

Hometown: Mohall, ND

Year/Major: Junior/Social Science Education

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Going to Hawaii with the marching band, it rocked my socks off.

What advice would you give a new student?: Do as many activities as you can!

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Professor Jon Schaff so I can battle with Dr. Dias.

Marissa Janish

Hometown: Aberdeen, SD

Year/Major: Senior/Fitness Management

Campus Activities: Volunteer Service Clearinghouse, Alternative Spring Break

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Gypsy Days weekend!

What advice would you give a new student?: Stay on the weekends, that is when you really get to meet new people. Also try and get some money management skills.

Ben Lickteig

Hometown: Angola, Indiana

Year/Major: Junior/Communications & Business

What do you like most about NSU?: It has given me a lot of freedom and allows me to be an adult but they still care about me and I don't feel like just another number.

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Joining CICS and doing things around the community or going on a Mission Trip to New Orleans and becoming nationally ranked in rugby!

What advice would you give a new student?: Keep your dorm room door open and go out and meet people, as many as you can. Remember to socialize and get an education, not just one, but both!

Christi Schulte

Hometown: Sioux Falls, SD

Year/Major: Super Senior/Chemistry

What do you love most about NSU?: That I can wear PJ's to class and nobody looks down on me!

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting at NSU?: To bring a curtain for my window and instructions to do laundry.

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Dr. Dias because then I would have the B.S. stamp!

Amanda Hermsen

Hometown: Winner, SD

Year/Major: Super Senior/Sociology

What do you love most about NSU?: All the different activities there are to get involved with. There is something going on almost every night.

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting at NSU?: How to work an alarm clock and get up early!

What advice would you give a new student?: Get involved-there is a group for everyone, if not, you can start your own!

Natasha Przymus

Hometown: Ivanhoe, MN

Year/Major: Junior/ Accounting

What do you love most about NSU?: CAB and the involvement students have. CAB does awesome activities that are tons of fun!

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Coming back from the summer and seeing all of my friends I made when I was a freshman! It was the best to see how everyone changed and grew. NSU is now my home and coming back is a joy.

What advice would you give a new student?: Be prepared and don't be scared! Be yourself and don't change for anyone. College is one of the best times of your life but bring warm clothes because it gets cold up here!

Megan Enderson

Hometown: Watertown, SD

Year/Major: Senior/Art Education

What do you love most about NSU?: The Art Department, I am so proud of it!

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Wow! There have been lots of bests. I think Alternative Spring Break has been my absolute favorite.

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting NSU:? I wish I would have known about all the resources on campus!

Heather Correll

Hometown: Denver, CO

What do you love most about NSU?: My softball team and all of the activities available!

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting NSU?: I wish I knew how to do laundry!

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Dr. Marmostein. He seems like a wild, crazy guy and an awesome professor.

Lisa Guthmiller

Year/Major: Super Senior/Elementary Ed w/ coaching

What do you love most about NSU?: The many activities that are happening constantly.

What is one thing you wish you knew before starting NSU?: That you don't need everything from your room at home in your dorm!

What advice would you give a new student: Don't be afraid of branching out and being a little crazy. Be yourself, people will like you better!

Rachel Hall

Hometown: Murdo, SD

Year/Major: Junior/ International Business

What do you love most about NSU?: The environment is open to everyone and encourages you to try new things.

What advice would you give to a new student?: Even though you have more freedom to do whatever you want, going to class is still VERY important!

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Professor Ann Vidoloff because she has a crazy life!

Jenna Fischer

Hometown: Bismarck, ND

Year/Major: Senior/Elementary Education

What has been your best experience at NSU?: Being an Orientation Leader last year because it really brought me out of my shell.

What advice would you give to a new student?: Have fun and come out of your skin. Take advantage of the things around town!

If I could trade places with any NSU staff or faculty it would be...: Coach Meyer because he is insanely smart and is liked and well-respected by so many people in town!

Hobbies: Basketball, tennis, jogging, playing with my dog, fishing, working on my house

What do you love most about NSU?: School Spirit. Our Athletic and Fine Arts departments do a super job and give us plenty to brag about.
