International Student Admission

In addition to the requirements for admission to graduate study, international students must submit a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score, as part of the application for graduate study.  A minimum paper-based score of 550 is required; or a computer-based score of 213; or an internet-based score of 79-80. Also, International students must provide evidence of their ability to finance a program of study without assistance from Northern State University. International students are required by the South Dakota Board of Regents to have medical insurance, proof of which must be provided before registering. The insurance requirement applies to the student, her or his spouse and any other accompanying dependents.
