David J. Grettler

David J. Grettler, Professor (Ph.D., University of Delaware)Dr. Grettler specializes in early American history. He is also a historical archaeologist interested in the social and environmental history of American agriculture and has published in three fields: history, archaeology, and geography. Dr. Grettler was honored as Northern's Outstanding Faculty Member in 1996 and have received numerous teaching awards including the NSU Honors Program Outstanding Teaching Award (1999 and 2002), Outstanding Student Organization Advisor (2002), and the Pew Teaching Leadership Award (1989). He has served as president of the faculty senate and is currently a co-advisor to the NSU History Club. Dr. Grettler has been teaching at Northern since 1993.
