Stephanie Finn Music Educator's National Conference
Major: Music Education Hometown: Midland, SD Campus Involvement: MENC; NSU Masquers; Math Center; Gypsy Day Committee Marching Band Chair; Chamber Singers; Vocal Jazz; NSU Marching Wolves; Symphonic Band. Faculty/Staff Member that has had the greatest influence on me: Dr. Lockwood because he is always encouraging me and helping me as I near the end of my college career. He helped me to realize what age level I wanted to teach and continues to ensure that I am in the right profession and that I will succeed. He has taught me to be patient and help everyone I can. Looking back at my time at NSU, I will never forget: "Pie Your RA" socials at McWelsh when I was an RA. It was always fun to see Salesi with his hair down and big, with whipped cream all over. Also, touring Germany and the Czech Republic with the choir. When we were in Prague, we were in the middle of the welcome home party for the Czech hockey team after they won the world championship.

Darcy Brandenburg Music Educator's National Conference Major: Music Education Hometown: Edgeley, ND Campus Involvement: MENC; Sinfonia; Marching Wolves; Symphonic Band; Aberdeen University Civic Symphony; Percussion Ensemble; Concert Choir; Chamber Singers; Jazz Singers; Supplemental Instruction Leader; Composer's Club; Student Senate; NSU Speech and Debate Team. Favorite Activities at NSU: Acting on Northern's stage, accompanying my friends for juries, singing in choirs, going on any choir or band tour, watching youtube with my friends, and overall just working and hanging out with my friends. Looking back at my time at NSU, I will never forget: Signing up for intramural softball league with a group of music majors and losing 35 to 1. We really didn't know what we were getting ourselves into...but hey, it was a good time. Also, I went to New Orleans with CICS to help with the clean-up of hurricane Katrina. I remember being horrified by the destruction, yet awe-struck by people unselfishly giving their time.

Megan Frewaldt Volunteer Service Clearinghouse Major: Psychology & Sociology Hometown: Hitchcock/Tulare, SD Campus Involvement: Student Ambassadors; Students of Social Sciences; Volunteer Service Clearinghouse; Alternative Spring Break. Future Plans: After completing my degrees, I would like to join the Peace Corp for a tour of service. I would then like to pursure my master's degree in either Counseling or Arts in Liberal Sciences. I am also very interested in continuing my education through studying abroad. Looking back at my time at NSU, I will never forget: On my first Alternative Spring Break in Waveland, Mississippi a woman in a bathroom caught me off guard by stopping and hugging me. Her eyes filled with tears as she told me "Thank you for what you do. It is people like your group that will do for us what no government agency can. You will help save the world". She spoke to my heart. I knew then, that serving was my passion and purpose in life.

Brandon Duxbury History Club Major: History Hometown: Wessington, SD Campus Involvement: History Club; employeed at BC, JFAC & Humanities; intramural sports. Favorite Activities at NSU: I have enjoyed all the intramural activities throughout the year (including: basketball, volleyball, softball, flag football, floor hockey, etc.). They give me a break from classes and homework and everything else that I need to get done in a semester. I also enjoy being apart of history club and participating in events such as the overnight trip to Fort Sisseton and the trip to the Dakota Heritage Museum in Pierre. Looking back at my time at NSU, I will never forget: Hillar Neumann. I've never had class with him, but Ric Dias would always tell us stories of how Hillar tried to kiss him during the previous class. Hillar would also come into Art Marmorstein's classroom between classes and give us a lecture on whatever outline Art had written on the board for that day. I had no idea who the guy was at the time but it was something I will never forget.

Travis has pushed me to go far and beyond what I thought I was capable of doing. He has helped to prepare me for my future. There have been times I thought I was going to fail but Travis has been there and helped me through my crisis. He's a great guy to know at NSU. Thanks for everything Travis. Looking back at my time at NSU, I will never forget: Hauling cardboard on the top of my car to the Newman Center to build a Gypsy Day float my sophomore year. The NIRSA conference with six intramural staff members in Minneapolis. Going on two Alternative Spring Break trips, to Oregon and Mississippi.

They have taught me a lot about Northern, and about life. They are always looking out for me, and are always making me laugh. Looking back at my time at NSU, I will never forget: Being involved with CAB-planning events, going through the halls with Eric; trips to Storybook Land; going to New Orleans to help with clean up; driving down Lincoln with Allison during a flood; living in Jerde Hall-meeting all the residents, informing the 3rd floor RAs that 4th floor is way cooler, toilet paper parties, Monday night meals with the crew, and getting advice from K-La, Konda and Brent.

Craig Nelson Intramurals & Men's Basketball Major: Elementary Education Hometown: Mayville, ND Campus Involvement: Intramurals; Men's Basketball; Men's Golf; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Former Resident Assistant in Jerde Hall How has Northern prepared you for the future: More than any of my classes, Coach Meyer has taught me about being prepared for life after college. Coach Meyer uses basketball as a tool to build and prepare for everything on and off the court. Northern has also prepared me by providing a great elementary education degree and other unique opportunities such as resident assistant and intramural staff. Looking back at my time at NSU, I will never forget: The packed crowds in Wachs Arena during my redshirt year when we were playing Bemidji State. I will never forget how loud the arena was and how intense the game was. Also I will never forget the friends and memories that Jerde Hall gave me. Whether it was playing Tecmo Super Bowl well into the night or cleaning up puke as an RA, the "Jerde" was the best part of college life.

Crystal Weller Northern Highlights Dance Team Major: Art-Fine Arts Hometown: Aberdeen, SD Campus Involvement: Northern Highlights Dance Team; Aberdeen University/Civic Symphony and Chamber Orchestra; Art Mentor; 2006 New Student Orientation Leader; Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society; Assistant Secretary in the Graduate Office. How has Northern prepared you for the future: By greatly expanding my creativity, talents, and skills as a an artist. Northern has given me the education and knowledge that I will need to be a successful artist as well as expanded my knowledge in areas outside of my focus area. The diverse variety of activities and organizations offered at NSU has also helped me to improve and build on my leadership skills. Looking back on my time at NSU, I will never forget: The many, many hours and late nights that I have spent in the art studio. I will also never forget my Spring Break trip to Italy and Greece with former art professors Joel and Ruth McKinney during my freshman year. |

 Michael Wurtz Grace On Campus
Major: History & German Hometown: Britton, SD Campus Involvement: Grace On Campus, History Club, German/Russian Club, IVCF, Residential Mentor, NSU Children's Center, Library Staff Future Plans After NSU: After I graduate from Northern, I plan on heading to Los Angeles, California to attend The Master’s Seminary to acquire my Master’s of Divinity (M.Div.). Afterwards, I’m open to serve in ministry, local or abroad. Name and describe the faculty or staff member that has had the biggest influence on you at NSU: Dr. Art Marmorstein, Professor of History at NSU. His genuine desire for students to achieve to the best of their ability has not only influenced me, but has become the legacy of virtually every student who takes his classes. Also, the commitment he demonstrates by giving his students a “big-picture” education to help them shape their view of the future in light of the past through his (he would disagree) exciting history lectures and even Harry the Talking Hand.
