Northern State University's next Gypsy Day will be:
October 5, 2013
Each October, maroon and gold fever takes over the campus and community of Aberdeen during Northern State University’s annual homecoming celebration, Gypsy Days.
The weeklong celebration draws many alumni back to Northern for a full slate of fun events. The festivities also include the crowning of a Gypsy Day queen and marshal. Northern students decorate business windows all around Aberdeen with Wolves-themed paintings.
The Gypsy Days Committee has developed the schedule for next fall’s Gypsy Days celebration:
Monday, Sept. 30
Pep Rally & Royalty Campaigning
Tuesday, Oct. 1
Lunch for a Buck & Office Decorating Contest
Wednesday, Oct. 2
Camp & Points of Pride Day (POP)
Thursday, Oct. 3
Coronation & Gypsy Days Dance
Friday, Oct. 4
Saturday, Oct. 5
Gypsy Day Parade
The week culminates in the largest parade in South Dakota: the annual Gypsy Day Parade, which draws about 200 groups, including floats and marching bands, from South Dakota and surrounding states. The week also features Northern football, volleyball and soccer games.
