Grading and Attendance Policy:  Final grades shall be based upon the total points earned individually and
as part of a group in (1) chapter examinations, (2) homework assignments, (3) quizzes, (4) class activities, and (5) the final examination.  The attendance policy is made to coincide with the five areas mentioned above.

Chapter Examinations:  Chapter examinations will be announced at least one week prior to the day they are to be given.  Should the student have another event scheduled during the examination time, arrangements to make up the examination to be missed must be made between the student and Dr. Haigh.  The arrangements must be agreed upon prior to the examination day.  If a student is unable to take a chapter examination because of illness, family or individual emergencies, or weather conditions, Dr. Haigh should be informed as soon as possible and arrangements to make up the examination will be made.

Homework, Quizzes, and Class Activities: Homework assignments, quizzes, and class activities will not be allowed to be "made-up."  However, Dr. Haigh will allow up to twenty (20) percent of the total points in these areas to be missed without penalizing a student's grade.  Example:  Suppose there are 150 points possible in the areas of homework, quizzes, and class activities.  A student could fail to complete work that involved 30 (20% of 150) possible points without being penalized gradewise.

Final Examination:  The final examination shall be a comprehensive examination.  The final examination is scheduled for Monday,  May 5, 2003 from 9:45 to 11:45 a.m.  in MJ-241.

Course grades are based on the total points obtained with letter grades assigned according to the following
percentages:
 A  90% - 100%            B  80% - 89.9%      C  70% - 79.9%     D  60% - 69.9%           F   below 60%
