In Aliki's How a Book Is Made,
the style of illustrations is cartoony and the subject matter is factual
and informative. This contrast works well together because the book
is aimed at younger children and the pictures will catch their attention
without taking away from the quality of the information. In fact,
the cats help degeneralize the makers of the book. It draws the child
away from assumptions of which people can do which jobs and leaves the
jobs open to any race or nationality.
