Why We Like Green Eggs and Ham
The appeal of "Green Eggs and Ham" and so many other
Dr. Seuss books is the manner in which he creates his totally unique world.
I remember when I was very young, around age four, I used to love to sing.
I would dream of making up my own songs but when I would sing them out
loud my older sister would tell the songs were stupid and didn't make sense
because I liked to make up my own words to make the songs rhyme and (in
my own four-year-old opinion) sound good. I guess I envied Dr. Seuss's
ability to be free from the rules I was expected to follow.
