Portrayal of the Indian in Scieszka's The Good, the Bad, and
the Goofy
In The Good, the Bad, and the Goofy, Scieszka portrays Indians
in many different ways. Most of the time I think Indians are depicted
as being the "bad guys" and the cowboys are the "good guys" and everyone
knows that the good guys always win! I think Scieska's book is more
realistic and beneficial to children because they can learn about the different
Indian tribes and how they lived in the wild wild west. I think a
child reader would also choose this book because it is full of adventure
and danger! It allows their imaginations to run wild. I think
children would enjoy the story while they were learning about Indian cultures.
