Northern State University, together with the other state institutions of higher education in South Dakota, implemented Datatel’s Colleague in Summer 1998. The first modules included Course Catalog, Course Sections, Admissions, Registration, Student Records, Account Receivable, Residence Life, and Financial Assistance.

The Activities and Degree Audit modules was implemented during 1999/2000 academic year. Web Access began in Spring, 2001. Students and faculty are issued a pin number to use with their Colleague id number to access their information.
