CISCO CLEAN ACCESS INSTALLATION

Connecting to the Network is changing!  A new network authentication and validation security system is in place to prevent “infected” computer systems such as laptops or desktops from gaining access to the network and infecting other systems.  This will ensure a safe, secure and reliable network for you.

 Instructions for Windows XP

 Use the following instructions to install Cisco Clean Access Agent, Norton Anti Virus, Service Pack 2 and Windows Updates.

 

ü       Open Internet Explorer

ü       You will get redirected to a secure site where you will get a Security Alert.

ü       Click OK

 

 

 

 

ü       You will then get a second Security Alert regarding a certificate.  Click YES to proceed.

 

 

ü       Next you will be directed to the NSU Network Authentication page.  Logon using your NSU Username and Password and click CONTINUE

 

 

ü       You may get a message wanting windows to remember your password.  Click NO.

 

 

ü       Next you will be redirected to the site to download the Clean Access Agent.  Click Download Clean Access Agent.

 

 

ü       You then be directed to another secure connection so you may get another security alert.  Click YES to this alert.

 

 

ü       You will be prompted to download the Clean Access Agent.  Select OPEN at this prompt.

 

 

ü       Next you will see the Clean Access Agent Setup Wizard.  Click NEXT to start the install.

 

 

ü       You may get a security warning asking if you want to install and run the CCAAgentSetup.  Click on YES.

 

 

ü       Click NEXT to keep the default destination folder.

 

 

ü       Click INSTALL to start the installation.

 

 

 

ü       Next you will see the Clean Access Agent login screen.  Enter your username and password and click LOGIN.

 

 

ü       Click YES to the security alert.

 

 

ü       Click CONTINUE

 

 

ü       Now you will be taken to the Cisco Clean Access Agent Check that your machine has failed.  Here you are able to click on GO TO LINK which will direct you to a location for remediation.  If you have failed more than one check you will be taken to the next failed check after this check has been fixed.

ü       If you are a returning student that had installed Cisco Clean Access Agent last spring, you may need to upgrade your Agent.

 

 

ü       Click on Download and then Click Save.

 

 

ü       Go to the location listed in the following screen by double clicking on My Computer and navigating to c:\program files\cisco\clean access.  Double Click on CCAAgent_Setup.exe.

 

 

ü       Click Next on the Clean Access Agent Install Wizard.

 

 

ü       Click Next to install Clean Access Agent to the default location.

 

 

ü       Click Install to begin Installation.

ü       Click Finish when prompted.

 

 

 

ü       After clicking GO TO LINK you will get a security alert.  Click YES.

 

 

ü       Next you will be prompted for your username and password.  Logon using your NSU Username and Password making sure to put NSU\username and then click OK.

 

 

ü       Click Run if asked to run this software from an unknown publisher.

 

 

ü       Click Open or Run when you are prompted to download Norton Antivirus

 

 

ü       Click OK to the WinZip Self-Extractor prompt.

 

 

ü       On the LiveUpdate prompt, click NEXT to get updated virus definitions.

 

 

ü       Click FINISH

 

 

ü       Click Yes to restart your computer.

 

 

ü       If you are left with this screen, you can close it.

 

 

ü       You should still have the Clean Access Agent window open.  On this screen you can click NEXT now that you have installed Antivirus and met the requirement.

 

 

ü       Click Run to Download and Install Ad-Aware.

 

 

ü       Click Run on the Security Warning Screen.

 

 

ü       Begin by clicking next.

 

 

ü       Check the license agreement, and click next.

 

ü       Click the Next button.

 

 

ü        

 

ü       Check anyone who uses this computer, and click next.

 

 

ü       Click next.

 

 

ü       In this window you will want to uncheck “Perform a full system scan now” and also “Open the help file now” all we want is to update the definitions at this time. Once this is complete click finish.

 

 

ü       Click the Start button toward the bottom.

 

 

ü       Click Customize toward the middle of the box.

 

 

ü       Click to put a check in “Scan within Archives”, and then click Proceed.

 

 

ü       Once back at this window continue to click next and allow Ad-Aware to go through and full system scan.

 

 

ü       After Ad-Aware is finished click next.

 

 

ü       Here you can view all the objects Ad-Aware found. To select all the objects at once, right click with your mouse and click select all in the menu you see.  Now once again click next and in the popup box you receive click ok, and Ad-Aware will attempt to quarantine and delete the selected objects.

 

 

ü       Click OK to remove the objects.

 

 

ü       If you fail the Windows XP SP2 check you will be directed to this screen.  Click GO TO LINK to download service pack 2.  You can follow the instructions below to download SP2 from our server or you may find it faster to pick up a SP2 cd from the Hall Office to do the install.

 

 

ü       Logon using your NSU Username (nsu\username format) and Password and Click OK

 

 

ü       Click OPEN to download Windows XP SP2.

 

 

ü       This download and install could take some time.  Below are some of the screens you may see while the download is being done.

 

 

 

 

ü       To start the Service Pack 2 install click NEXT

 

 

ü       Click “I Agree” and Click NEXT

 

 

ü       Click NEXT

ü       The Install could take some time.  Please be patient while it installs.

 

 

ü       Click FINISH.  Your machine will reboot at this time.

 

 

ü       Upon rebooting, you will be prompted to set up your machine for automatic updates.  Select Help protect my PC by turning on Automatic Updates now and click NEXT.

 

 

ü       The Security Center will open displaying that your Firewall, Automatic Updates, and Virus Protection is ON.  This is informational and this window can be closed.

 

 

ü       The Cisco Clean Access Agent login screen should automatically open.  If it does not open automatically it will do so when you open Internet Explorer.

ü       Enter your NSU login username and password and click LOGIN.

 

 

ü       Click YES on the Security Alert prompt.

 

ü       You will again be taken to the temporary access screen if you have checks that you have not passed.  If you have passed all checks you will be successfully logged into the network.  Click CONTINUE.

 

 

ü       You will get this screen if you have Windows XP Updates that are not done.  Click on GO TO LINK to go to the windows update screen for updates.

 

 

ü       If this window appears Click YES

 

 

ü       Click INSTALL to get the latest windows update software.

 

ü       Click OK

 

 

ü       Next you will be taken to the Windows Update screen.  Here you want to Click EXPRESS INSTALL to install all windows updates for your computer.

 

 

 

 

ü       After checking for available updates you will get this security message.  Click YES to continue.

 

 

ü       Next you will see this screen which shows the updates that are needed on your computer.  Click INSTALL to install the updates. 

 

 

ü       Click on I ACCEPT to install the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.

 

 

ü       Please wait while your updates are being installed.  This may take some time.

 

 

ü       Click RESTART NOW

 

 

ü       After restarting your machine you will again be prompted to login to Clean Access Agent.  Again, use your NSU login name and password and click LOGIN.

 

 

ü       Click YES to the security alert.

 

 

ü       You may see this screen.  Please wait while it checks your machine for other vulnerabilities.

 

 

ü       Accept or Reject the Network Usage Policy.

 

 

ü       Successfully Logged in to the Network!  Click OK

 

Some information regarding the Clean Access Agent login screen below.

 

ü       Once you have been through all the checks and have successfully been logged on to the network, your machine will be marked CLEAN

ü       You will be required to go through these checks once a week. 

ü       The system will mark your machine DIRTY every Thursday morning at 4am and at this time you will be required to log back in via the prompt above. 

ü       If you are updated and Norton is running you will be successfully logged into the network for another week. 

ü       If you are missing a patch or having problems with your Norton you will be taken through the prompts for remediation.

The second Tuesday of every month Microsoft normally puts out updates, so you can expect to have updates that will need run on the second Thursday of each month.
