Desire2Learn (D2L) is the new course management system (CMS) being used at Northern State University (NSU). All courses have been moved from WebCT to D2L. Please check with your instructor to see if he/she will be using D2L as part of their course delivery and would thus like you to access the content contained within D2L. If your instructor is using D2L as part of their course delivery, you will not have access to the D2L courses until the first day of class. Also, D2L operates most efficiently on high speed Internet, i.e. DSL or cable.

You may access D2L by going to NSU’s homepage: http://www.northern.edu/index.html and selecting the Desire2Learn link located on the left hand side of the page. You may also directly access the D2L login page by going to https://d2l.sdbor.edu/. Your D2L username is the same as your WebAdvisor username.

If you have not logged into D2L before, please follow these steps:

1. Access the D2L login page at: https://d2l.sdbor.edu/. 
2. If you know your WebAdvisor ID, please select the “What is my password?” link.
   1. Under the Reset my password section of the screen, enter your WebAdvisor username and your NSU email address. Then, select the “Send me a temporary password” button.
   2. You will now need to access your NSU email to locate the message containing your login information and proceed to set up your password.
3. If you do not know your WebAdvisor ID, please select the “I’m new to D2L” link.
   1. Under the New to Desire2Learn section of the screen, select the “Find your Desire2Learn Username and your email address” link.
   2. On the next screen, enter your last name and your colleague ID number (7 digit number on your NSU ID card). Then select the “Retrieve my information” button. You will be provided with your Username and NSU email address.
   3. After receiving this information, select the “reset my password” link on the screen that appears.
   4. Select the “Send me a temporary password” button on the next screen.
   5. You will now need to access your NSU email to locate the message containing your login information and proceed to set up your password.
