- On the bottom right hand side of your
desktop screen, you will see a shortcut task bar.
- If you are receiving a signal, you will see
a wireless indicator icon.

- If you have a weak signal you will see few
green bars and may get
disconnected periodically from the wireless network.
- If the wireless icon
has an
x through it, the
wireless network is not available or
is disconnected.
- To connect to the NSU wireless, double click
the wireless icon.
- You will see a window like the one displayed below.

- This wireless network wizard will pop up showing
available wireless networks
within your range.
- NSU has two networks, depending on your
location.
- nsuwireless: This is a secure
wireless network that is available to
NSU faculty staff and students. You will
be required to
install Cisco Clean Access agent in
order to connect.
- wolfcafe: This wireless
network is available for NSU guest
access. It is available in the Williams
Library and the Student Center. Access
to this wireless network is limited to
only the basic Internet.
- Select the appropriate wireless to
connect to and then press next.
- You will now notice the wireless
indicator icon.
If your laptop/tablet does not pick up a wireless signal, please ensure you
are within coverage areas. These areas can be found at
www.northern.edu/help/wireless/
If you are sure that you are within the coverage
areas, your wireless card may be disabled. Follow
the steps below to ensure you have enabled your
wireless card.
Windows XP
- Open your Network Connections window by
going to the Start menu, selecting Settings, and
then clicking Network Connections. You should
see a window similar to the one below.

- Right-click on the Wireless Network
Connection and select Enable.
