A new security feature in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) is the information toolbar. A graphical display is show below.

When you right-click over the information toolbar, you have the option to "Download File". This will temporarily set your browser to download files from the site you are on.

If you wish to get rid of the information toolbar, follow these steps to disable the information toolbar.

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select Tools >> Internet Options >> Security Tab
  3. Click the Custom Button
  4. Scroll down to the section titled "Downloads"
  5. Check the "Enable" option for Automatic Prompting for File Downloads

  1. Click OK, Yes to the security warning, and OK again. Refresh your browser and test your link to ensure that you no longer get the information toolbar.
