In the lower right hand corner of your computer screen, you should see a yellow shield on your task bar.  Double click the yellow shield to open Norton AntiVirus.

Once Norton is open, you will see this screen.

Ø      On the left, highlight “Scan Computer”

Ø      On the right, check the boxes for your local drives (probably C and D). Do NOT check network drives (normally F, G, H, or I).

Ø      Click on the Options button

On the Macro Virus tab:

Action:  Clean virus from file
1. If action fails:  Delete infected file

On the Non-Macro Virus tab:

1. Action:  Clean virus from file
If action fails:  Delete infected file

Click the Save Settings buttonClick the OK button – it will take you to the previous screen:Click the Scan button

The scan will begin. Notice the status bar on the bottom of this screen:  you should see the number of files scanned increasing.  If the number doesn’t change, Norton is not working correctly and you will need to contact the Help Desk at 2283.
