The Health and Physical Education (HPE)
Department is an integral part of the School of
Education at Northern State University. The
department offers majors in Physical Education(teaching);
Human Performance and Fitness and Sport Marketing and Administration.
In addition, specializations are available in Personal Training,
Strength and Conditioning, Health and Fitness For Older Adults and Fitness Administration.
The
HPE Department developed a new Sport Marketing and
Administration major in 2006.
Students who choose a major in the HPE Department are
opening a broad avenue of opportunity for
employment in the education, community wellness,
coaching, corporate fitness, sport management, and exercise and
health-related fields. It is the goal of the HPE
department to prepare our graduates to be
life-long participants in and advocates for a
physically active and healthy lifestyle. We are
also committed to providing a sound knowledge
base in Physical Education, Health, and Wellness
to non-PE majors who take required courses
through the HPE department.
