Goat Island Beach during a windy and a bit stormy day.
Zoom in by
the hills towards Pakari.
The well
outside the Puhoi cafe, we are inside as it was a bit stormy.
Kat,
Sandra, Keren and I out for Devishire Tea at the Puhoi cafe.
The cafe
has a fishy wind thingy in the garden.
We also
visited a cheese producer. These are some that are locally
made.
A huge cow
bell was hanging near the register. They were not in the process
of making cheese when we visited.
On our way
back to the lab we stopped at the Honey Center. We tried some
mead (honey wine) and saw the bees. :)
On a more
calm day three of us girls went for a beach walk. I finally
remembered to take my camera! We walked towards Pakari.
This is a view looking back towards the lab, which is the white roof
that you see surounded by trees. The other building is a private
house.
We went a
little further, the previouse picture was taken standing on that rock.
:)
Sally and
Paula were out for a walk with ...
...me!
That is
Goat Island, acrost the channel from the lab.
Local
flora along the beach, Pohutukawa trees (not in bloom, when they are
its a lovely red) and Flax.
Close up
of the Flax flower. Tui's (a local bird) are very fond of this
plant.
