We definitely got our exercise for the
day. One the way up I counted 224 steps, on the way down I counted 225,
and the brochure said 226. I am taking their word for now. Herby, Teddy,
when you come this is one of your missions, help me count these stairs.
Are you up for it?

I had a long weekend and went to Burgundy.
The area is known for its wonderful wines. My first visit was to a Hospital
for the poor that was used in the 15 hundreds. This is a shot of one of
the roofs. Nice tile work.

These are the beds for the poor. This place
is extravagant, especially considering that it is for the poor.

This is the court yard area. The color
is different for a reason, even thou I don't think this is rational. I
was made darker and less extravagate from the outside on the back side
to make it less attractive to thieves. But look at the roof work!

This is part of the kitchen. This room
was huge. I liked the sink "spouts", were the water came out of. They are
in the shape of snakes. :)

in this place. This particular painting had an electric magnifier glass
that moved to specific areas of the painting.

see all the main things in the town of Beaune. This is the Hotel de Ville,
it is now an art museum.

Grape vines with grapes! I can remember
when I was very small being in NJ picking grapes and eating some of them.
I also remember picking strawberries and apples, somewhere.

This one cellar had 18 wines for people
to taste. They had a nice little card for you to make your little comments
on. This was the first wine of the tour. Angela, Aunt Joanna we are starting...
Where are you?

During the tour I meet a nice elderly couple
from Germany. They were really into wines and invited me, after the tour,
to join them to test some of "the best of the best" wines. Of course I
accepted, we tried six other wines. His wife took the pic.

This local instrument called a "Hurdy-gurdy
during the grape-picking these instruments accompanied the dances of seasonal
workers from the Morvan". I think its cool and I have never seen one before.
