Today we went to a geothermal
energy plant . Here's a picture of Joanna in front of turbine just outside
of the information center.

Wouldn't want to fall in there...

On our way into Taupo.
Beautiful scenery, and don't forget to
look at the road signs!
Taupo, Lake Taupo and Mt. Tangariro.
On such a nice clear day, we could
look over Lake Taupo and see Mt. Tangariro.

Janne loves the doughnuts over
here. Here we're at a roadside teahouse up in the mountains.
Joanna is trying the pastry, too.
There was a large aquarium in
the middle of the Napier, Hawke's Bay Aquarium. There were sharks, bass,
snappers, and two GIANT stingrays!
They were almost the width of
our arm spans!
Janne spreads her arms at the
size of the ray.
Upstairs, there was a lizard fish
(an albino is pictured here). If it gets too dry, it can live on the land!
I think she's in love!
A really cool statue just outside
of the aquarium. I love the intricate design and the fishnet.

Most of the pictures of the end
are of the room we stayed in Hastings. It's like a small apartment with
two bedrooms (four beds!) a nice shower with an opening door, a kitchen
and a dining area. And get this... it's cheaper than a night in a US Super
8!

| REMOVED BY REQUEST.... |
The notorious picture that started it
all... As we all know, the majority of kiwi homes don't have central heating,
so there was only one space heater in the apartment. After getting drenched,
Janne decided to bundle up in front of the only heat source in the room.
As soon as we got to our room,
Joanna started calling down to Thrifty and the Wellington ferry to coordinate
our departure. The dining room is behind her.

in the hopes they'll dry faster.

The shower had a opening door
that was only three quarters as long as the tub! Joanna thought it was
the neatest thing since sliced bread. Me? I liked the shower head...
