Uploads from June 28th

The first night,  we spotted an internet cafe across the street from  where we decided to dine, so it did cost us. I think  it was $5 for 40 minutes... The next message was from  another internet cafe, but I have no idea of the cost   there, but I got kicked off the system three or four  times.   Last night and tonight, I'm using the systems  at the hotels where we're staying. So we're not paying  for it, but the hotels pay for the time we're online.    Anyway, this one only has explorer, so I'll be  sending you some more email attachments.   I've switched   the camera to fine, so I'm getting an average of 22 pictures to a disk and I'm on disk 7 right now.   I've been working on captions, so it will be a lot easier   to remember. :-)

We've been having a GREAT time, but I still miss   home quite a bit.   The nice establishments where we've been staying help a bit, but I miss sleeping in... and   being woken up by the boys and just seeing everyone.   I don't think we're tiring out too much, though there is   a bit of exhaustion at points.   I've taken a few 20 minute naps in the car and so has Janne, but overall,   we're doing okay.

So, without any further delay, here are today's and yesterday's pictures!

Welcome to the wineries at Hastings!
Here's our first wine tasting experience of the trip at Te Awa. YUMMY!
Joanna tries a Pinot Noir.
I want this one!
Janne and Jo savors the full palate of the red wines.
Janne tries a glass of red wine.
Welcome to Trinity Hill, yet another winery! Located right across the street from Te Awa, Trinity Hill is named for the three owners (Trinity) and the gorgeous hills in the background. Like anywhere else, there are a few cows here and there.
Inside the store, we noticed several peculiar things. Here's me and a giant dandelion! (If that isn't different...)
And you thought WE had dandelion problems!
Barrels and barrels of wines!
We were able to browse through the fermentation facilities and climb up on their oak barrels. At least we're getting some exercise with all that wine...
I read that most white wines are stored in stainless steel tanks like the ones pictured here. The containers were sweating and I noticed a graph that recorded the amount of brix (sugar) content.
And who could forget the gorgeous scenery! (Okay, so my pictures don't always do the country justice, but hey!  I'm trying!) This is a shot of the mountains (and fog) on our way into Wellington. The fog hung on the mountain tops like a lampshade, so you couldn't quite see the summits.
Just a little more country side along the windy mountain roads... WARNING: DO NOT RIDE THESE ROADS IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH!
While waiting for the Wellington ferry, Janne conducts her fourth saline trial.
Some places where just a little hard to get to the water...
Ferry's can be fun... and a little hard to get used to...boy, can they rock!
Joanna tries to walk on the ferry while the ocean crossing is underway.
