  This is the Maori god of Earthquakes and Volcanic activity.

  This is Zhang Heng's earthquake recorder.  The quakes shake both the ground and the instrument.  The instrument strikes the free-standing pendulum inside, which in turn hits the rod attached to a dragons mouth. This releases a ball and  it falls into the toads mouth.  there are 8 toads pointing to the 8 compass directions.  This is from early China.

  This car is made out of corrugated iron, a common roofing material in NZ.  It was also driven for several years.

  This ball of silver ferns (the shapes making up the ball) hangs over the civic  square.

  This is the Embassy theater in Wellington.  It had the Australasia premiers of the Fellowship and Two Towers and the World premier of the Return of the King.  Corey and I saw Finding Neverland here.
