This is the outside wall at the bathrooms on the way to the Bay of Islands
in a town called Kawakawa.
This carving hangs over the entrance to the Waitangi, where the treaty
was signed. Maori lore says that when entering certain areas you
pass under a female figure because women are the givers of life.

This is what the first flag of NZ looked like. The one that they
have now came from the Wellington yacht club. The news recently said
that in Wellington they are petitioning to have the flag changed; one argument
is something that represents the Maori should be on it...such as the silver
fern.
