Catalogs
To find books in Williams Library, use the Library Catalog, where you can search by author, title, subject, or keyword. You also have access to your circulation record and other helpful information.

The library catalog is part of SDLN (South Dakota Library Network). While you are on campus, the NSU catalog is the SDLN default for searching. Through SDLN, a statewide consortium of South Dakota libraries, NSU students, faculty, staff, and courtesy card patrons registered with the library may borrow books that are unavailable at NSU because the books are either not owned or are checked out, missing, or library use only. Simply choose all SDLN libraries or a specific member library from the Library pull down menu on the search screen.

If a book is available at another SDLN institution, you can request it online through the SDLN Catalog and have it sent to the circulation desk. In general, it takes 3-5 working days for the materials to arrive. Check your circulation records in SDLN to keep track of your requests. In addition, as a member of the NSU community, you may borrow directly at most other SDLN institutions with a valid NSU ID.

Researchers may also want to search WorldCat, an international database of materials published worldwide. In WorldCat, you can search comprehensively for a given topic and find out which libraries own a particular item. If you identify materials in WorldCat that are not available in the library catalog, you may be able to request these items through InterLibrary Loan (ILL).
