Effective July 1, 2004 Williams Library will no longer offer Gale Group and InfoTrac academic databases on our Online Databases page. In their place researchers can now access two EBSCO databases that contain even more full-text scholarly and popular content: Academic Search Premier and MasterFILE Premier.

Academic Search Premier is the world's largest scholarly, multi-disciplinary full text database and contains:

  • Information in nearly every area of academic study including: biology, psychology, religion & theology, sociology, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and more 

  • 8,000 abstracted and indexed journals (more than 6,600 of these are peer-reviewed)

  • Full text from more than 4,600 publications

  • 3,500 peer-reviewed, full-text journals

  • PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals

  • Searchable references are provided for more than 1,000 titles

MasterFILE Premier is a general interest database that contains:

  • Information covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues, and more 

  • Full-text coverage for 2,000 periodicals

  • Full text for more than 360 reference books

  • 84,000 full-text biographies

  • 86,000 primary source documents 

  • An Image Collection of more than 100,000 photos, maps, and flags
