South Dakota
American Indian Resources (SD State Archives)
This website, from the South Dakota State Archives, provides a series of links to institutions and organizations that offer primary source material about Native Americans.  Among these sources are the National Archives, The Smithsonian, and several prominent University libraries.

Institute of American Indian Studies (University of SD)
This organization, established by the SD state legislature in 1955, is involved in USD awareness programs, student recruitment, and scholarship administration.  The Institute also houses the South Dakota Oral History Center, which contains recordings from many of South Dakota's reservations.

South Dakota Tribes (State of SD)
Links to South Dakota Tribes' location, histories and government contact information.  Street addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail are included for each tribal government.  Not all tribes maintain an official web site. 

Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe
Official website of the Cheyenne River Lakota.  Provides information on tribal government, law, employment, services, and news. 

Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe
Official website of the Flandreau Santee Sioux.  Links are provided to health services, tribal government, education, economic development, and Santee history/culture.  A link to the tribe's gambling venture is also included.

Sinte Gleska University
A four year institution on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation at Mission, SD.  Sinte Gleska University provides two and four year degrees in the arts, business, education, Lakota studies, and technology. 

Oglala Lakota College
OLC provides instruction in the fields of nursing, education, the arts, leadership, and Lakota studies.  This Kyle, SD based college's mission is "to provide educational opportunities that enhance Lakota life".
 

North America
Bureau of Indian Affairs
Official website of the US government department responsible for management of the 55.7 million acres held in trust on behalf of Native Americans.  Agricultural programs, educational services, infrastructure maintenance, and economic development on reservations all fall under the purview of the BIA. 

National Congress of American Indians
From the website: "NCAI's mission is to inform the public and the federal government on tribal self-government, treaty rights, and a broad range of federal policy issues affecting tribal governments."  Site features information on NCAI staff, a calendar of government events nationwide, a tribal directory, and extensive information on important issues on the reservations.

Native American Sites
This website contains linking information to many sites dealing with issues important to Native Americans.  It is maintained by a former librarian and arranged under topic headings such as languages, urban Indian centers, and native businesses.

Kappler's American Indian Affairs: Laws and Treaties
Home page for the Oklahoma State University digitization project.  Contains direct links to all seven volumes of the Kappler's Indian Affairs series, and has an advanced search function to look across all seven volumes at once.

Native American Constitution and Law Digitization Project
This joint project of the University of Oklahoma and the National Indian Law Library provides access to constitutions, tribal codes, and other legal documents.  Although not exhaustive, this site provides documents regarding a large number of tribes and is fully searchable. 

Images of Native Americans (Bancroft Library)
From the website: "The diverse scholarly treasures represented in this exhibition include materials that reflect European interpretations of Native Americans, scientific and anthropological research, United States military surveys, images of popular culture, literary and political observations, and artistic representations."  This digital exhibit is provided by the University of California-Berkley's Bancroft Library. 

Lakota Journal via SDNA Newspaper Database
The Lakota Journal is weekly publications that cover news and events concerning all of the federally recognized Tribes of the United States and Canada. The Lakota Journal is owned and operated by the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe.

Indian Country Today
This newspaper bills itself as "The Nation's Leading American Indian News Source", and garners the highest visitor traffic numbers of any Native American website.  Daily news, editorials, trade and commerce, and entertainment news are all available in the web based version.

Aboriginal Canada
From the website: "the Aboriginal Canada Portal [is] your single window to Canadian Aboriginal on-line resources, contacts, information, and government programs and services. The portal offers ease of access and navigation to listings of Aboriginal associations, businesses, organizations, bands, communities, groups, news and peoples."
