American Rhetoric
A comprehensive online speech bank that contains over 5,000 speeches. Find links to the 100 most significant American political speeches of the 20th century, according to leading scholars, as well as movie speeches and a section on rhetoric.

Source for topics on domestic issues. From the site: "The Brookings Institution, one of Washington's oldest think tanks, is an independent, nonpartisan organization devoted to research, analysis, and public education, with an emphasis on economics, foreign policy, and governance." 

Bureau of Labor Statistics
Government site for socioeconomic data. Find information on wages, health, demographics, consumer spending, and much more.

Cato Institute
Source for topics on domestic and international issues. From the site: "The Cato Institute was founded in 1977 by Edward H. Crane. It is a non-profit public policy research foundation headquartered in Washington, D.C."

C-SPAN
Check this site for audio and video clips of current issues on the political scene. Find links to related sites and research studies on topics of current interest.

Documents in the News (University of Michigan)
Good source for current events research. From the site: "Documents in the News identifies issues about government making news headlines and web sources with additional information." 

Douglass: Archives of American Public Address (Northwestern University)
An electronic archive of American oratory and related documents. Speeches may be browsed by date, title, speaker, and by issue. The Resource Desk and Featured sections of the site provide links to Web resources on featured themes. Another section of the site provides online access to An Outline of American History (USIO). 

General Social Survey
From the site: "The GSS (General Social Survey) is an almost annual, "omnibus," personal interview survey of U.S. households conducted by the National Opinion Research Center....The first survey took place in 1972 and since then more than 38,000 respondents have answered over 3,260 different questions." Topics addressed include socioeconomic status, social mobility, social control, the family, race relations, sex relations, civil liberties, and morality, among many others.

Social Statistics Briefing Room (The White House)

Technical Advisory Service for Images
Provides advice and guidance on the issues of finding and using digital images to support teaching, learning, and research. Includes an annotated list of existing digital image archives on the Web in various disciplines.

Television News Archive (Vanderbilt University)
