1.
Give students
the list of names of influential leaders and have them
research these people and their role in the
Revolutionary war. When research is completed have
students discuss the roles each played for their side in
class discussion. Examples:
King George, Lord Cornwallis, John Adams, Samuel Adams,
Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington,
Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry.(

2.
Examine a
battle from the Revolutionary war. Examine the outcome
and what moves led to that outcome. Give students a side
to be on and a role to play and have them recreate the
battle showing what they would have done differently. (Logical-Mathematical,
Visual-Spatial, Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligences)
3.
Cover one of
the major events of the Revolution as a reporter who
writes for people in the other colonies. Write about the
event in a make believe news letter to be distributed to
classmates. (Verbal-Linguistic
Intelligence)
4.
Write a diary
as if you were living at the time of the Revolutionary
War. Begin your diary before the war and show how events
shape your feelings and opinions. (Intrapersonal
Intelligence)
5.
Create a
timeline of important events and activities presented in
the text. i.e. battles that took place during the
American Revolution (Logical-Mathematical)
6.
Student will
research the song Yankee Doodle. When they find out
that the song was originally written to make fun of the
colonial soldiers they will discuss in groups of 4-6 why
the British wrote the lyrics they did and why the
patriots adopted the song as their own. (Musical-Rhythmic
