Teacher education students in both EDFN 475/575 Human Relations and INED 411 South Dakota Indian Studies classes will work with a Bureau of Indian Affairs school or a public school with high American Indian enrollment to determine, compile, and disseminate students' self-perceptions regarding Gardner's multiple intelligences. NSU teacher education students will then create a website of lesson plan resources for educators linking both state content standards and the eight multiple intelligences. 2005 Awarded Bush Collaborative Research Grant. Project title, "Field Experience in Learning Methodologies for NSU Students in EDFN 475/575 (Human Relations): A Study in Cognition." In collaboration with Dr. Richard Faflak, this interactive project will involve NSU students and students from the Hutterite Colony at Hutterville in an archaeological field excavation on one of the early settled colonies, dating from about the turn of the century. The scientific aspect of this project will involve the application of ground penetrating radar, a remote sensing technology, to locate the subsurface remains of a historic homestead. 2005 Awarded Faculty Travel funds to present at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Annual Conference. 2002 Awarded Governor William J. Janklow Faculty Award for Teaching with Technology for South Dakota Indian Studies class. Created and published instructor and student designed websites utilizing Microsoft FrontPage. Developed and integrated numerous WebCt components. Published student-developed PowerPoint presentations utilizing digital camera images, scanner images, and MP3 or music files. |
