Celebrate Success at NSU
Released October 9, 2008
(ABERDEEN, SD) Northern State University
has just experienced a record breaking start to
the 2008-09 school year. To thank the northeast
region for their strong support, President
Laurie Stenberg Nichols is pleased to invite you
to a celebration on Thu, Oct. 16, beginning at 5
p.m. on the south end of the football field at
the Clark Swisher Activities Complex.
"We have much to be excited about right now at Northern State," said President Nichols. "The celebration on October 16 is a chance for us to say ‘thank you’ to the many folks in the community and region who have supported the campus and helped make our impressive fall start possible."
Northern State’s enrollment has grown by 9.78
percent, with a 12.14 percent increase in
full-time enrollment, over the past year. That
is the largest percentage increase among all
South Dakota public universities, and it’s a
result of the long-lasting support of the
northeast region.
The celebration will include music, food,
activities for kids and a chance to visit with
students, faculty and staff from Northern State.
The event will take place prior to the televised
football game between Northern State and the
University of Mary which is scheduled to
kick-off at 7 p.m. at Clark Swisher Field.
This will be the third time that KSFY and
Northern State have partnered to broadcast a
sporting event, and the first time that NSU
football will be featured. The game will be
broadcast and seen locally on KSFY. In North
Dakota, the broadcast can be seen of KFYR, KMOT,
KUMN and KQCD.
A limited number of free tickets are available
for the game. They are available at the NSU
Foundation Office, the NSU Athletic Office in
the Barnett Center or the Student Development
Office and at the Information Desk in the
Student Center.
For additional information, please contact the
Office of Student Affairs at 605-626-2530.
