Released January 4, 2008
(Aberdeen, S.D.) The South Dakota Lions Eye Bank, in conjunction
with Avera St. Luke’s, will recognize and honor donor families
and transplant recipients on Fri, Feb. 1, at half time of the men’s
basketball game against the Wayne State Wildcats.
Established in 1917, the Lions are an international network of 1.3
million men and women in 202 countries and geographic areas who
work together to end preventable blindness.
The South Dakota Lions launched the Community Program in 2006 which
is a state-wide effort to partner with local hospitals and honor
local donor families and transplant recipients. The program recognizes
donor families and transplant recipients for their bravery with
the overall goal being to educate and inform the public on a personal
level about donation.
