Coburn to Present Senior Recital

(Aberdeen, S.D.) Northern State University senior, Jody Coburn of Sioux Falls, will present her senior recital on Thu, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Berggren Recital Hall of Johnson Fine Arts Center.
Jody Coburn is the daughter of Kelly and Jay Coburn of Sioux Falls, and a 2004 graduate of Sioux Falls Washington High School. She is majoring in both vocal and instrumental music education at NSU.
Coburn has been very active at NSU participating in sax quintet, Marching Wolves, Jazz Band, Wolfpack Pep Band, theater, musical theater, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Intercollegiate Band and Collegiate Choir. She served as the drum major for the Marching Wolves for two years, and performed with the NSU drumline for one year. Upon graduation, Coburn hopes to teach in South Dakota.
Coburn, who chose NSU because its reputation as a solid teacher education school in South Dakota has had many memorable experiences at Northern including performing on stage for the theater productions “Beauty and the Beast,” “Twentieth Century,” “Mikado,” and “Miss Saigon.” She credits her theater experience for the many friends she’s made at NSU, as well as learning a lot about herself, time management and having fun on stage.
Coburn, a vocal soprano and alto saxophone instrumentalist, will be performing three compositions by Bozza, a set of three lullabies, and three Gershwin pieces. She will be accompanied by Carissa Karsky.
