NSU Professor and Student Travel to Dubai for Performance

(ABERDEEN, SD) Northern State University assistant professor of voice, Raouf Zaidan and freshman, Hatem Elgendy, recently returned from a trip to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where they both appeared in the opera “Don Giovanni,” at the Al Ain International Festival.
“Don Giovanni,” premiered in the “Estates Theater” in Prague in 1987. The opera is performed in two acts with the music composed by Mozart. In the festival production, Dr. Zaidan performed the role of Leporello, Giovanni’s servant, and Elgendy portrayed Masetto, the lover of the peasant girl Zerlina.
Dr. Zaidan joined the NSU faculty in 2005.
Elgendy is originally from Cairo, Egypt. He is a vocal baritone and studies under Dr. Zaidan.
