Midwest Diplomat in Residence to Present at NSU

(ABERDEEN, SD) The Northern State University department of history and geography welcome Rick Roberts, Diplomat in Residence for the Midwest region for a presentation title “Careers in the U.S. Department of State.” Roberts, who is a career foreign service officer who specializes in the Middle East will present on Mon, Apr. 14, at 7 p.m. in Mewaldt-Jensen room 146.
Robert’s presentation will include:
• Explanation of how to become a Foreign Service officer (a
diplomat) and a description of what a career in the Foreign Service
entails.
• Description of a variety of other careers in the Department of State – including civilian positions and Foreign Service support positions. These careers do NOT require the same exam as the Foreign Service officer post. Many of your students are qualified for these federal government positions, if they have skills in history, geography, international relations, information technology, English language instruction, security, construction engineering, or office management.
The United States Department of State is currently hiring students
with skills in history, geography, international relations, information
technology, English language instruction, security, construction
engineering, and office management. Most of these careers do not
require prerequisites (in language or anything else) to apply.
