NSU Spanish Professor Awarded Grant

(ABERDEEN, SD) NSU Spanish Professor, Dr. John A. Morrow, has been
awarded a prestigious grant from the Program for Cultural Cooperation
between Spain’s Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports,
and US Universities. He will be spending the next two months in
Spain studying “aljamiado” texts in the country’s
national archives for his forthcoming book which has been commissioned
by the Spanish government.
“Aljamiado” texts are manuscripts which utilize the
Arabic alphabet for transcribing Romance languages such as Mozarabic
or Ladino.
Dr. Morrow has been a member of the NSU faculty since 2004.
