NSU Alumni Association Hosts 50 Year Club

(ABERDEEN, SD) The Northern State University Alumni Association hosted the 3rd Annual 50 Year Club Reunion this past weekend, May 9-10.

The 50 Year Club is an elite group of alumni who graduated from NSU fifty years ago or earlier. The NSU Alumni Association recognizes the members of this group for the tremendous pride and support they continue to bring to their Alma Mater.

Twenty-four members of the Class of 1958, in addition to many earlier graduates, gathered for the festivities. Alumni from South Dakota, New Jersey and Indiana gathered for the event.

“It’s an absolute honor for the Alumni Association to host such a terrific group of graduates who have accomplished so much with their Northern educations,” said Rachel Kippley, NSU’s Alumni Director. “Educators, bank presidents, artists and community leaders, each of their success stories is truly remarkable.”

The fun-filled weekend began Friday afternoon with a special campus tour, highlighting recent changes to the university. A cocktail reception and banquet were held at the AmericInn on Friday evening. NSU President Patrick Schloss, NSU Alumni Association President Eric Bauer, Thunder the Wolf the inductees. Thirty-five graduates were inducted into the 50 Year Club. Each inductee received a golden alumni pin, certificate, and keepsake photo following dinner, a NSU jazz ensemble entertained the crowd.

Following commencement, a luncheon was held in the Lincoln Hall lobby, which is now the Isaac Lincoln Art Gallery. The library’s archival staff displayed Northern State Teachers College memorabilia and photos from the 1950’s for the occasion.
