Contestants Sought for 2nd Annual Miss Rodeo Aberdeen Contest

(ABERDEEN, SD) Contestants are being sought for the second annual
Jr. Miss/Miss Rodeo Aberdeen pageant that will be held in Aberdeen
on Mon, Aug,t 11, and Tue, Aug. 12. The Jr. Miss competition is
open to young women ages 12-16 and the Miss competition is open
to young women ages 17-23.
The new Miss Rodeo Aberdeen will represent Aberdeen at bull riding
and rodeo competitions across the state and will advance to the
Miss Rodeo South Dakota pageant held in Belle Fourche, S.D. The
new Miss Rodeo South Dakota will advance to the Miss Rodeo America
competition in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The reigning Miss Rodeo Aberdeen is Teri Jo Weidner of Wolsey,
S.D. and the reigning Jr. Miss Rodeo Aberdeen is Kallie Odenbach
of Winner, S.D.
In addition to the title the new title holders will win a Crown,
Banner, Chaps, Jacket, Buckle and more.
Contestants are judged equally in three categories: appearance,
personality and horsemanship. The scores from a contestant's speech
presentation, photogenic judging, interviews, extemporaneous questions,
introductions, and fashion show presentation are also included.
Horsemanship will be held on Mon, Aug. 11 at Horseshoe Stables,
38548 135th Street with the style show and speech competition being
held on Tue, Aug. 12 at the NSU Student Center. The coronation
will be held at the Student Center following the style show. All
events are free and open to the public.
The competition is being hosted by the NSU Rodeo Club. Contestants
