NSU Alum Rejoins NSU Foundation
Released July 22, 2008
(ABERDEEN, SD) Mr. Mike Birgen has returned to the staff at the
NSU Foundation. The NSU alum will work with alumni and friends and
in major gift fundraising.
“We are very excited that Mike has chosen to come back to
NSU,” said Todd Jordre, Executive Director. “We are
adding Mike at a time of growth and expansion and he joins an experienced
team. Mike’s enthusiasm and love for Northern will be quite
an asset to the university and the Aberdeen region.”
Birgen, who graduated from NSU in 1992 with a B.S. in physical education
and business, previously served as an admissions counselor, Assistant
Director of Alumni Services, Interim Director of Admissions, and
Director of Athletic Development at NSU.
“I am excited to join those on the foundation board and current staff who are working so diligently to take the foundation to the next level. We also need to continue what was started years ago, establishing and fostering relationships to advance the institution within the Aberdeen region and across the United States,” said Birgen.
Birgen returned to Aberdeen after working for six years at Arizona State University and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
He and his wife, Tina (Styles), have two daughters, Breanna (10)
and Brittany (5).
