Northern State to Offer Masters Programs in Gettysburg
Released July 29, 2008
(ABERDEEN, SD) Northern State University and the Gettysburg School District are pleased to announce that two masters programs will be offered in Gettysburg beginning this fall. The masters programs offered include school administration and classroom teaching.
“It is exciting to form partnerships with our colleagues in K-12 schools. Collaborative partnerships that bring educators together enhance the teaching and learning environment for South Dakota’s students,” said Dr. Tom Hawley, Dean of the NSU School of Education. “Since Northern’s beginning in 1901, it has been our primary mission to address the educational needs in Northeastern South Dakota.”
According to Hawley, participants in the new cohort will be able to complete a master’s degree in two years by attending weekend and evening classes. Faculty members in NSU’s School of Education are excited to work with teachers and administrators in Gettysburg and the surrounding area.
“We appreciate the opportunity extended to us by Superintendent
Marlette and are delighted to provide master’s courses at
a time and location more convenient for area educators,” said
Hawley. “We look forward to working with Superintendent Marlette
and his staff to make this partnership a reality.”
There are still a few openings in the cohort which is scheduled
to begin in late August. For more information contact Tammy Griffith
