Second Annual “Early Childhood Academy” to be Held at NSU Newman Center

Dr. Gayle Bortnem(ABERDEEN, SD) The Northern State University School of Education is pleased to announce that the second annual Early Childhood Education Academy has been scheduled for Fri., Sep. 5 from 3:30–8:30 p.m., and Sat., Sept. 6, from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Plan to join area professionals specializing in child care, preschool, kindergarten and special education as they gather to network and learn about issues in early childhood education.

The Academy will again be led by NSU Assistant Professor of Education, Dr. Gayle Bortnem, will be held at the Newman Center, just south of the NSU campus in Aberdeen. College credit (undergraduate and graduate) will be available at the rate of $43.20 for one credit.

“There are many ways that we can meet standards through planning and assessing in developmentally appropriate ways,” said Bortnem. “We will be having some teachers in the field present their own experiences to enhance best practices in teaching.”
